Milly has exactly the same colour eyes as her twin sister, Lizzie. They are pale green with flecks of grey in them and each one is encircled by a dark green ring. Her features are very symmetrical and slender, but on the right side of her face, alongside her ear, she has three scars. They are from her mum's fingernails the one time she hit her a year ago.

Milly has blonde hair with a slight off-centre parting, and it is graduated around her face. This makes it easier for her to hide most of her face and mainly the scars by her ear; as she is very self conscious. Her hair is a mixture of straight and curly because from the top of her head to about her ears it is straight and from then onwards it falls in curls. It reaches mid-way down her back and she very rarely has it tied up; because then she can't hide behind it.

Milly is of an average height and two inches smaller than her twin sister. She hates her height at times, because it sometimes makes her feel inferior to Lizzie, nonetheless she accepts it. She wears very plain and mainly baggy clothes so that she can hide away and not stand out in any crowd. In this respect she is completely different to Lizzie, other than the identical chain she wears that holds the key to their old house.

Personality:

Even though Milly is an identical twin with Lizzie, they could not be more different in their personalities. Lizzie is the one with the voice, Milly isn't. She is a very quiet person and only ever speaks to Lizzie and her best friend, Shane. However, when she must she will talk to others, but always with Lizzie or Shane's encouragement, and sometimes force.

Due to her quiet attitude Milly finds it incredibly hard to make friends, and she also has terrible issues with putting trust people. She tends to put her trust in the wrong people and always looks to Lizzie for help in that aspect. However, when she eventually finds a true friend and manages to trust them wholeheartedly, she will be the best friend anyone could ask for. She is brave when she needs to be, hard working and will never let anyone down if she can help it.

When she was younger, Lizzie became friends with Shane before her, but because it was Lizzie that had to move away, her and Shane became the best of friends. Besides, they are more alike in personality compared to him and Lizzie. Lizzie introduced her to Shane and they used to be friends altogether, and this was the only reason why Milly has him as a friend, otherwise she would never have had the courage to talk to him. But ever since her parent's divorce she has come to depend more on herself, but still she waits for Lizzie to do the talking and mainly copies her actions. In this way, many people think she is stupid and doesn't have a personality of her own. When in fact she does, you've just got to get to know her and see what she's really like beneath the surface.

History:

Milly and her twin sister, Lizzie, are both muggle born and were the only children of Julia and Max Paley. Before they received their letters for Hogwarts the family had never believed in magic, but Milly had always shown great interest in the art and read lots on the subject hoping it was real. When they were younger they had a very happy life, where they were doted on by their parents. Their parents both had normal jobs and they went to school and had friends like any normal child. At this time both of the girls were placid and very similar in nature.

However when they were 7 their parents went through a nasty divorce and their happiness was shattered. As a result of the divorce they lost their house and both parents bought separate and smaller houses; with their dad moving to a different town. The twins were then separated, with Milly living with her mum and Lizzie with her dad. It was at this point that Milly changed into the person she is now.

Both girls were extremely unhappy with the situation but Milly suffered it in silence. She only talked to Shane, her best friend, about how she felt about everything and he eventually talked her into telling her mum how she felt. Milly, of course, did and it went horribly wrong. Her mum lost her temper and lashed out at Milly, causing the marks alongside her ear. Even though her mum apologised and regretted it, it had still happened and due to this outburst, Milly never talked to her mum about anything again. She even stopped telling Shane everything because of the fear that he would do the same thing.

Shane picked up on the change in Milly and because they were best friends, he thought it was his duty to do something. So, because of him, at the age of 10 and a half Lizzie moved in with Milly and her mum. They couldn't have been happier. Milly was more at ease with herself, but still the incident had done too much damage to her for it to be reversed. However, when they got their letter's of acceptance both of them were overjoyed. Even their parent's seemed happy for the both of them. Milly couldn't wait to get out, but at the same time she didn't want to leave. She was in a place she knew well, with a best friend that hadn't been accepted, but Lizzie convinced her to go, saying it would be good for the both of them.
