Description:
Standing at only 5' 1'', with very thick, frizzy, curly brown hair that ends just past her shoulders, Julia was not one that most would find intimidating upon first glance. Her hazel eyes, with a gold ring around both pupils, was fascinating to look at; however, they almost always had a subtly sad look to them. Julia's face had particularly bad acne, though, if one looked past it, she had a very lovely, beautiful face.Personality:
Being so short, one would not expect Julia to be thickly built. Indeed, she wasn't; nor was she abnormally thin, however. She was ever so slightly pudgy, with the barest hint of too much fat on her body. Though, it would help if she stood up properly, instead of being hunched over slightly all the time, as if to protect herself from something or someone.
Julia wasn't one to care for appearances; she dressed just nice enough as was comfortable: a t-shirt, jeans, and warm socks usually did the trick. She almost always had her bushy hair tied back in a low ponytail, her bangs kept back with the use of hair pins. Julia wasn't one to smile just for the sake of smiling; but when she truly meant to smile, it was beautiful.
Julia smiled mostly out of politeness, because of societal rules. Noone knew exactly why, but there was almost always a slightly sad air about her. She had a strange habit of almost never looking other children her age directly in the eye, but again, noone knew why. Indeed, she was a very shy child.History:
Yes, oh yes, Julia was very much like her house, Ravenclaw. While she could not 'pack a punch', so to speak, physically, Julia loved to devour knowledge of any kind when she was young. She was often found hiding in small corners, reading books that went from every topic of fiction: plays, children's story books, and the latest hit novel, right through nonfiction: ancient civilizations and their histories, the political evolution of the wizarding world, and written recollections of natural disasters, as well as countless other topics.
Though one would not expect it at first, Julia loved a good sense of humor; when she did speak up, her words were full of wisdom, and, when particularly angry, full of wit and cunning, able to outsmart almost any opponent in a given argument. She never considered being half-blood 'inferior' to pure-bloods, nor did she ever consider being half-blood 'superior' to mudbloods/muggles.
Julia Ephiram was born on November 30, to Elsira and Jack Ephiram. One of a pair of twins, she was born right when a snowstorm was about to hit the village where her parents lived. Unfortunately, her brother was not able to survive the bitter cold, small as he was, despite her parent's best efforts. He died a few days after their birth. The snowstorm, her parents told her, ended right when he passed. Her mother being the witch in the family, her father the magically-tolerant muggle, Julia learned what she began to consider 'the best of both worlds'. She was taught everything about both the wizarding and muggle worlds; her parents told her all about Hogwarts, and she knew that they fully intended for her to attend there. She agreed heartily with them, pleased to learn she would attend one of the best magical schools there was.Acceptance Letter: erised
Though she kept up with her peers throughout toddler-hood, hitting most of her expected milestones at the correct time, Julia charged ahead of every other toddler mentally. She learned to talk and read before most of the other children had learned to do so; she began to read harder and more challenging things around eight years old. However, Julia was not as successful socially.
She was teased, even at that young age, for her hair at the local muggle school. Julia didn't have any friends, really, not only for her love of books and knowledge, keeping away from the other children to read a bit in a quiet corner of the school yard at recess; not only for her strange ability to make weird things happen, which her parents assured her were completely normal for magical children her age, but for sheer lack of emotional connection. Indeed, what would probably be called her only friend of that time was a small stuffed animal; she connected more with that toy than she did any other child of her age group. Yes, when a student told a particularly funny joke, she'd get it and laugh along with the rest of the students, and when a student needed a bit of cheering up she'd give a helpful word of encouragement to them. But that was only because she knew what to tell them; instinctively, Julia knew exactly what would make others feel better, or exactly how to make her point when making a defense in an argument. But, due to her deep sadness at losing her brother, and not being around other children who knew what it was like to have a magical parent, or know of the magical world at all, she grew hesitant to grow close to other children her age at all; as would be expected, her life was rather lonely.
Finally, finally, the time came when Julia Ephiram turned eleven. The very first present, right on top of the pile, was a rather small one; indeed, it was only an envelope. But Julia smiled, as indeed her parents were beaming at her that morning, for all three of them knew what it was before Julia even touched the envelope; before she even took out the letter, before she began to read the words that made her usually slightly sad face beam up, happy, euphoric: it was a letter from Hogwarts.
