How-To-Play
Quidditch on Thestral is quite simple actually. It is a game of Harry Potter Trivia. Each Game will be scheduled to a certain time, because all players of the team must be there at the same time. All Games are held on a Tinychat.
As you know there are seven players to a team, Three Chasers, Two Beaters, One Keeper, and a Seeker. Well a game is split into two parts; Scoring Part and Seeker Part. Let’s start with the Scoring Part.
Scoring Part
In the Scoring Part the players that are active are the three Chasers, the two Beaters, and the Keeper. Basically each group (chasers, beaters, keepers) face off against each other trying to answer the Trivia question first. The Scoring Part starts off with the Three Chasers facing off. They get a question to answer and side that answers it first moves on.
Example:
3 Gryffindor Chasers VS. 3 Slytherin Chasers
“What is Hermione’s robe color in the first book?”
Gryffindor Chaser: Pink
Slytherin Chaser: Pink
Gryffindor Chaser got it first, so the Gryffindor Chasers move on. It is then a match up against the Chaser Group that just won and the opposing team’s Beater Group. They get a Trivia question and the first group to answer it first gets to either move on, or turn it around.
Example:
3 Gryffindor Chasers VS. 3 Slytherin Beaters
“How many heads does Fluffy have?”
Slytherin Beater: 3
Gryffindor Chaser: 3
The Slytherin Beater answered first, so the game gets turned around and goes to Chasers VS. Chasers. If Slytherin won the question when it was Chasers VS. Chasers, then they move onto Chasers VS. Beaters. If the Slytherin Chasers win that to, it goes to a one on one with the Keeper of the opposing team. Whatever specific character answered the question first gets to go on the one-on-one.
Example:
Sue (Slytherin Chaser) VS. Gary (Gryffindor Keeper)
“What does S.P.E.W. stand for?”
Sue: Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare
Gary: Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare
Sure, the Slytherin Chaser answered the question first. This means Slytherin scores and it goes back to the beginning, Chasers VS. Chasers. This continues until someone, from the Seeker Part, has caught the snitch.
Whenever the Referee shouts “Bludger!” every team member on the field must reply “Dodge”. The last person to reply cannot answer a question until the next goal is scored.
Seeker Part
Now, to explain the Seeker part. This part is easier to understand. Basically it’s Seeker VS. Seeker. The Seekers keep get asked questions until one Seeker is the first to answer 30 correct, that Seeker caught the snitch. The Game, Scoring Part and Seeker Part, stop and the team that caught the snitch gets 150 points extra.
Brooms
Now, to explain the concept of brooms. Brooms are what you ride when you play Quidditch. When you join a team and do not have a broom, you use the school's Cleansweep Seven. This is a normal broom that has no advantages. If you buy a broom, you get advantages in the game.
Advantages:
Cleansweep Eleven: Capitalization not needed
Comet 290: Capitalization not needed, 10% chance you won't be hit by a bludger
Nimbus 2000/2001: Capitalization not needed, Cannot be hit by a bludger
Firebolt: Capitalization not needed, If someone answered before you, their answer gets canceled out (Only happens if you are second to answer)
(For a Seeker: Capitalization not needed, You only have to answer 28 Questions correctly)
To order a broom, you must go to the Owlery.
