typing! thinking"talking!"Emily's smiled dropped as Elita brought up popularity. Didn't she actually want friends? Like real, for real close friends? But Emily didn't want to think about that. She kinda wanted to be friends with elita, so she smiled along, but kept the thought in the back of her mind. Emily turned to Asmyl and looked her in the eye. "I'm really sorry that your mother left, but obstacles are just a part of life..." She smiled gently, "I'm posistive you will find a way to make best of the situation." She amde sure to tell Asmyl that she cared, right with here eyes. Then she turned back to the girls across the table from her. She laughed in a cocky way, a way Emily only brought out when she was defending her friends and being a bitch to people who made fun of the people she loved. Maybe Elita was bringing it out. "I have to agree, we are MUCH more entertaining than the Nerd Squad!"Did she just say that? Did she just act like a real Slytherin when it wasn't needed? I guess she did. I mean, Emily belong either in Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff...for her quirkyness and smarts. She just called her own kind the "Nerd Squad". But then again, the Slytherins were her own kind. So she just shrugged it off, showing no effect on her face, and staying in the cocky attitude. Besides, if she wanted to fit in with Elita she woudl have to show her daring side. The side that was not held back from being deaf. That's when she decided, right then and there, to hide being deaf from these girls. What if they don't accept me?She had tried hard enough this morning to keep up reading lips, but had missed a few things Asmyl said. This was going to be hard work... - - - - - - - - - - tags: Asmyl and Elita outfit: regular school uniform, robe and all. I still felt out of place. Appearantly I was now part of the 'Nerd-Squad'. I laughed it off, she was just trying to be funny, like friends I assumed. I looked at Asmyl and unintentionally turned my back to everyone else. "I really like this place!" I said cheerfully. "Everyone else does too, right?" I said and then turned back to face everyone, waiting for their answers. I was starting to get hungry so I looked at the lovely girl Emily "Can I have a piece of bread?" I asked, now realizing how hungry I really was. I wondered if they had anything wizardy to eat here, I wanted to try anything I could get my hands on. I always loved trying new food where I used to live. It wasn't home anymore though. This was now home, and hopefully it always would be.

Elita could tell by the looks that she sometimes caught out of the corner of her eye that Asmyl didn't really like her. She was fine with that. In fact, she reveled in other people's dislike. Where better to thrive but in adversity? It was an eat or be eaten world, and she was offering protection from being mocked by the rest of the Slytherins for what they were. If she couldn't tell that the respect from the upperclassmen was well earned, and keeping them from swooping down like hawks to scare the shit out of Asm, Em, and Rose, then she was blind. Just because you had one wizarding parent didn't take you off the hitlist. She was trying to give them a chance that they might not see at Hogwarts. That girl Emily spoke, comforting Ams before turning her attention on the Ravenclaw girl, confirming what she had said. Elita gave a smile, and a few of the upperclassmen that heard gave her some approving nods before turning back to their meals. "Spoken like a true Slytherin, Emily," Elita said simply, now turning her attention to a small goblet filled with a bizarre flavored punch that she honestly couldn't get enough of. She took a sip, looking over at the group. Sure, she could have chosen much better when it came to blood status, but she had a feeling that the two Slytherin girls, and maybe even that Rose character, might come in handy if she ever needed to get out of trouble in the future. The Ravenclaw girl then continued to gush about how she really liked Hogwarts. Sure, it was a nice institution, and the best of the lands, but the place had lost all it's main level interest. And until the other two, or three, of the girls also started getting bored, she wouldn't be able to delve into the secrets that her siblings had rumored so much about. "It is nice, but I would rather be at Durmstrang Institute," she said easily. Yes, it was an all boys school. Yes, that was the point of her bringing the location up. She hoped at least Emily, who seemed to have been doing some reading, would catch her subtle innuendo.

Looking at Rose, Asmyl could she that she was just as unsure about her current predicament as she was, and felt a little bad for her. She glanced sideways at Emily, a little surprised that a girl who didn't like the word 'mudblood' would assign the term 'nerd herd' to the Ravenclaws. But then again, what did Asmyl know? She was basically like a muggle born herself, and really wasn't even sure of what the norms were in the Wizarding World. "Here," she sad, handing Rose a piece of toast from the little rack in the middle of the table. "You must be starving! And, uh...Ravenclaw's not so bad," she added, shrugging her shoulders. "At least it shows that you're smart. That's good...right?" 'Stop talking!" her brain commanded her, but as usual, Asmyl didn't listen to the good sense she was given. At the risk of sounding completely ignorant, she cocked her head to the side when Elita spoke and raised an eyebrow. "What's Durmstrang?" she asked. "That sounds russian or something. Is it a city?"

I was starting to feel very uncomfortable. "Actually, I am feeling a little sick, no bread for me." I said to the nice girl. I was honestly scared to death of all of these Slytherins. They were starting to get on my nerves. I needed to leave before they would all hate me forever. It was probably not the he's idea to get on all of their nerves either. I felt myself starting to break a sweat. I needed to leave this instant. I got up from my seat and looked at all of the girls. "Sorry, but I think I should go. It was really nice to meet all of you. I hope we get to meet sometime soon." and with that I quickly walked away from the table with all of my belongings. I might meet them again, but I don't think I would want to raw all of them alone.

typing! thinking"talking!"Emily was taking a sip of pumpking juice when Elita said Durmstrang. She choked on the juice, but made sure not to make a mess. When she finished swallowing and wiping her chin, she just looked at Elita. "Durmstrang! But that school is all for boys and they specialize in the...dark arts. Not really the defense part either."Emily smiled a bit, but pondered that thought. She would never want to go to Durmstrang! I mean, it's all guys that's for one. Also they are all about physicality and not so much the learning from reading aspect. Sure, Emily was all for practicing spells but she didn't want to end up in the Hospital Wing at the end of every Charms class...if there was a Charms class at all. That's when Asmyl spoke and Emily turned to her, smiling. "Durmstrang is a Wizarding School located in the northermost regions of Sweden or Norway. Nobody knows the exact place, except the people that go there. It's Unplottable. The people, of course, are only boys...from what I've read. They don't admit....my kind, Muggle-borns and you can tell by their uniforms that it is very cold up there. Most likely their fireplaces are only used for magical purposes. There's a lot more about it in The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts ."Emily smiled at the end of her speach and looked to Elita for...some sort of reaction. Her smiled dropped, no knowing if she said too much. Maybe she had just identifyed herself as a part of the Nerd Herd. I mean, she did belong there or Hufflepuff. Emily coughed awkwardly and smiled a tad before eating more bacon. "But it's not like I read the whole thing..." This was only a mumble, and it had a tad of sarcasm. Of course Emily had read the whole thing! She didn't put it down for two nights! - - - - - - - - - - tags: Asmyl and Elita outfit: regular school uniform, robe and all. Elita gave a smile. "Of course, Asmyl, being smart is a fantastic thing, so long as you don't forget the important things," she said easily. "Common sense above intelligence, y'know," she said brightly. She was about to tell her what Durmstrang was, Rose stood up and left, excusing herself, and Emily jumped in with the word-for-word dictionary of what the Academia was. She gave a slight smile as she said that she hadn't read the whole book, but Elita would bet her wand that she did. It seemed something that the Muggleborns would do. They didn't know magic, so instead of learning everything in school, they would try and read everything and end up being way ahead of the classes. "My point exactly, Emily," she said easily, leaning back in her chair. "Dark Magic and a whole throng of boys who haven't seen a girl for a few years," Elita said, giving a mischievous smile. "Give me a few more years, and we'll all be wanting to be there," she said simply, waiting to see the reaction of the other two girls. ooc: sorry bad post. my mom's boyfriend interrupted my thought process.

Asmyl watched the girl, Rose, get up and walk away. Was it something they'd said? Well, it was more likely Elita said something, but even her remarks hadn't been so bad. Rose had just left, out of the blue. 'That was weird,' Asmyl thought, shaking her head and refocusing on the conversation at hand. "I don't think I'll ever want to go here, that sounds scary," she said, rubbing her arm. "What if they beat you up? I know boys are supposed to be nice to girls, but one time, back at home, these boys from school...um, the muggle school I went to...they chased me all the way home one and tried to beat me up." She knew she sounded silly, but it was true. Pathetic, but true. She realized though, that Elita was probbly not so worried about that.

typing! thinking"talking!"Emily laughed when Asmyl said she didn't wanna go there, because Emily didn't either. But then Asmyl told them about how she almost got beat up. Emily's smile dropped and she looked at Asmyl, trying to comfort her. "Don't worry, you don't have to go to that school. It's all for boys anyways, and you're here now, aren't you?"Emily smiled and turned back to her breakfast. Her bacon and eggs were done so she spoons out some oatmeal and pancakes. She poured syrup on both of them and bit a chunk out of the pancake. She swallowed and drunk some pumpkin juice before spekaing again. "Hogwarts if, of course, my first choice, but Beauxbatons Academy of Magic sounds just wonderful. You can learn to speak French AND it's near Cannes in France....which is near the beach! Choirs of wood nymphs sing while you dine on light food. The colors are fantastic and you live in a palace. It's just sounds so culturally interesting!" Emily stopped herself before she started rambling on how Beauxbatons was founded, not that there was much to be known. Nobody really knew about it. Instead, Emily took another sip of pumpkin juice. "But I'm sure you're right about the boy's part. My mother says kids go from hating boys to loving them, so I'm pretty sure I'm gunna wanna go there sooner or later." Emily smiled, knowing that if she had the choice right now...she woudl not go. Maybe in the future she woudl want to... - - - - - - - - - - tags: Asmyl and Elita outfit: regular school uniform, robe and all. Elita ate thoughtfully, listening to Asmyl and Emily exchange some words. Emily definitely knew too much for her own good. She hope the poor girl wouldn't get teased. Both of them probably would. It was hard, being in Slytherin. But, only the best got in, so it was probably for the best. They must have had something they were hiding, something that proved they should be in Slytherin. There was a lot one could do, but there were a few that Elita could cross off for them. So, how did they make it into Slytherin? "Trust me, if you don't start looking now, all the good ones will be taken by the time they mature," she said nonchalantly, giving a smirk. "I'm not saying now, but probably by second or third year, I should help you guys learn how to flirt," she said easily. Sure, they probably already knew how to, but not in the way that Elita knew how too. There were a few things you could do to increase your odds. "That is, if you guys would still want to be seen with me until then," she finished innocently, sipping at her punch.

Not wanting to sound too callous, Asmyl countered Elita's insinuation with one of her own. "I don't see the harm in it," she said, staring back just as innocently, which wasn't a stretch for Asmyl to look. She usually gave off that 'too young to be melevolent' look with her too-big eyes and childish mannerisms. "Besides, it seems like being friends makes more sense than being enemies, or at least not-friends. And...I can't say I have any more prospects." She looked around, and as she examined the faces of her fellow housemates, she found that she was on the recieving end of more than a few uppity sneers. Whether it was because she was hanging around Elita or because children usually picked up on Asmyl's inherant oddness, she didn't know, but it didn't matter. She wasn't dumb, and she liked the prospect of not getting picked on quite as much as she expected to be. It was weird, but Asmyl continued talking to these girls, her hesitant stutter seemed to fade. She wasn't saying 'um' or 'uh' or trailing off nearly as much now. Did this mean they'd make suitable friends? Hell if she knew; she didn't know the first thing about friends. But she knew she did need them, if she were to survive this place. "Although," she added as an after-thought to her previous statement, "I don't really know why you'd want to hang around ME...I'm not really the type people usually want to be friends with."

typing! thinking"talking!"Emily smiled and looked at Elita. She was sorta bad at showing her feelings. That or maybe she really didn't like Emily. And she was really into flirting and boys, even for a 13 year old. And she was 11! "I mean, I've made it this far hanging out with you Eli...I think I can handle a few more years." Emily took a sip out of her pumpkin juice while she listened to Asmyl speak. She then turned to Elita again. "I mean, it's more the question of whether you want to be seen with me...really."Emily smiled half-heartedly. She dind't want to believe it, but it was true. Why did Elita want to be friends with her...even after she showed her nerdy side. I mean, if her nerd side freaked her out...the fact that she's deaf will make Elita never wanna see her again. Emily then turned to Asmyl, because she just missed a couple things Asmyl was saying. What did she just say? Oh I'll just wing it..."Of course Asmyl..." Emily looked around at Elita to see if what she just said related to what Asmyl said. The reaction on Elita face meant that Emily said something weird. Emily coughed awkwardly and turned abck to Asmyl. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite hear you. Could you repeat that?"- - - - - - - - - - tags: Asmyl and Elita outfit: regular school uniform, robe and all. Elita twirled a strand of hair around her finger looking over them both as they said almost the exact same thing. Why would she want to be friends with them? Now, that was an interesting question, but she didn't have the answer. Maybe she was trying to surround herself with people to make her look better. Maybe she actually just liked them for who they were. They were different, and she liked that. She would take that over normalcy any day. The last bit of what Emily said, after Asmyl had finished, left Elita a little bit confused. Of course, Asmyl. She looked over to Emily, who was facing Asmyl at the time. She held up two fingers. "Em, how many fingers am I holding up," Elita said loudly, enough that somebody sitting across the table from her could easily hear. How could she have not caught what the person right next to hear was saying but catch everything Elita was. It didn't make sense. She waited for a response from her newfound friend, curiosity boiling inside her. ooc: the ultimate conquest is complete. elita and emily are now embodiment of effy and panda i would say asmyl could be naomi, but she goes gay, so...

Asmyl turned to Emily and raised an eyebrow. She knew it was probably just an honest mistake...she said she hadn't heard Asmyl right...but it still stung a bit. 'Don't take it to heart,' she thought to herself, forcng a small smile. "Oh, it was nothing, Emily," she said, waving a hand to dismiss the subject as Elita held up two fingers to her. Twirling her wand in her fingers, she wondered if being friends with these two girls was always going to make her feel like a silly little kid. But maybe that's what it would take not to be seen as an weird loner? Maybe she just needed to grow a thicker skin. It was worth it, in the end, she figured. "Im...so, Elita, you're so, uh...well known with the upperclassmen. How do you do it? I mean, like, you're just a first year."

typing! thinking"talking!"Emily's smiled dropped as Asmyl shrug off what she said It must of been pretty bad, my mess up... Emily sighed, still looking at Asmyl. "Ok, well I'm sorry. I just didn't hear you right..." Emily gave an honest smile and sighed. Being deaf was harder now that she was at school. It was fine in muggle school, she just watched the teacher the whole lesson. Sometimes the teacher woudl turn and write things on the board, but then they corrected it when they found out Emily was deaf. When the boys and girls at the muggle school found out Emily was deaf, they taunted her with it. They made sure to say important things when Emily wasn't turned to them. And talk behind her back. That's why she didn't want to tell anybody here... Asmyl said something and Emily nodded, turning to Elita, but Elita was acting strange. She had two fingers up and she was staring at Emily. Emily laughed a bit, but looked worried. "Uh, Elita. Why do you have two fingers up?" Maybe she missed something Elita said... - - - - - - - - - - tags: Asmyl and Elita outfit: regular school uniform, robe and all.
